Sagar Minority Welfare Society

Training Programme

Sagar island is pure agriculture and fishery-based economy. To enlarge the agricultural productivity, farmers are trained in several ways. Our organization endeavored to make an arrangement of such a training program among the needy farmers in the area of paddy and betel leaf production. Some agricultural devices are provided to them also. With a view to encouraging the unemployed youths, a tailoring training program has been arranged by the organization this year.

Health Programme

The Society conducted a few mother’s meetings this year to make aware about health education, population control with the help of local BPHC immunization camps, and health check-up camps are held one time a month in each village by part-time doctors. Regarding child nutrition, a health program is conducted by the organization this year. As a result, mother and child health are improved. People are alert about health education and population, education. We try to establish a sound health co-operative society.

Primary Education Programme

Near about 100 poor children are able to have a scope of primary education in “Sagar Iqra Academy” (K.G.) which is smoothly run by the society. There are 6 women teachers who are involved and dedicated to the integrated child development and educational improvement program at a very minimum remuneration throughout the year. We are trying to enlarge the school building and another infrastructural facility. Students are getting various facilities as like as of govt. aided school.

SHG Motivation

The organization for the purpose of the needy women-based organizations and socio-economic empowerment has formed 20 nos. SHGs through motivation camps village-wise at the operational villages. They are working well in the locality now.

Awareness Camp

To make more aware the public in general, the organization arranged an awareness camp relating to Covid-19, pulse polio program, pollution control program, etc. Like each and every year, a blood donation Camp is arranged specially in the summer season this year also. More than 100 people have donated their blood very spontaneously. These donated blood are sent to govt. blood center. The villagers are not so much aware of road trafficking. Even a few of the car drivers are not aware of the same. With a view to making aware of safety traffic norms, rules for crossing any road, etc. The society conducted an awareness camp based on this matter.

Social & Relief Work

This year, the society arranged a tree plantation program. More than 5000 saplings are planted along the river basin and 500 villagers are provided various sorts of plants like coconut, mango, flower & fruit trees, etc. 6 nos. of latrine are built by the organization to the poor villagers with the financial patronize of Local Panchayat Samity. With the help of the local Panchayat, village roads are repaired, transformed into brick roads.

Books & Periodicals

The organization has encouraged the public to have their good practice of regarding books & periodicals and newspapers regularly by the establishment of a library in the locality. This year, the society purchased 100 nos. of books, newspapers,s, and periodicals for the readers. All the expenses incurred by the society with the help of members’ collection and local contribution.
In spite of the fact that the organization is trying its best to improve the socio-economic health & educational condition of the people of the area & to ensure social justice, it could not fulfill 50% of its desired goal due to the non-availability of necessary funds. Immediate & sustainable assistance for all its ongoing programs is the urgent need of the hour.
